Purple Passion Poppy Hat
The Purple Passion Poppy hat by MAGGIE MAE DESIGNS® is a 23-inch wide show stopper! The inspiration for this design came from Sally’s love of purple which led to her vision of a basketful of purple poppies with orchid accents!
An extra wide brim hat foundation was needed, created from a luscious royal purple dupioni silk with matching lining.
Five delicate poppies were fashioned by hand to adorn the hat, with three on the front, one on the side and one slightly smaller one on the back.
Each poppy features royal purple rose curl centers with orchid silk organza petals top stitched with purple and orchid threads.
To accent the center rose of each poppy, a custom triple loop was created out of purple/blue/pink metallic tube beads.
A medley of mixed plum-purple leaves topstitched with purple thread frames each poppy. Purple-orchid silk organza feathers and orchid silk organza spirals add whimsy and movement to the trim design.
A plum purple dupioni silk sash was created, lined with orchid silk organza and handstitched to encircle the crown. Swirling layers of deep purple tulle were handstitched over the entire brim, making a soft bed for the poppies.
A single large poppy with accenting leaves and playful silk organza feathers adorns the back of the hat.
